Long-distance relationships are never easy — even when you’re a global TV star dating one of football’s biggest defenders.
Maya Jama has given fans a candid glimpse into her relationship with Manchester City star Ruben Dias, admitting she is already missing him while away in South Africa for Love Island hosting duties.
The Love Island presenter recently jetted off to South Africa to film the latest All Stars edition of the hit reality show, a move that has temporarily separated her from Dias, who remains in Manchester.
Since going public with their relationship, Jama and the Portuguese defender have been nearly inseparable — from sun-soaked holidays to festive football appearances. Jama was even spotted cheering Dias on during Manchester City’s clash with Nottingham Forest over the holidays.
Now, with production underway in Cape Town, reality has set in.
Taking to Instagram, Jama shared a fan-made video edit of Dias, revealing she has been watching it on repeat during her daily commute to set.
“Spent my car journey watching TikTok fan edits cause I miss him already,” she wrote, instantly melting fans online.
The post quickly gained attention, with supporters praising the couple’s openness and chemistry.
Despite filming abroad, Jama is not planning a long stay away from the UK. With Dias tied to a demanding football schedule, she intends to travel back and forth during breaks in production to maintain balance between work and personal life.
The Love Island: All Stars final is scheduled for February 23, 2026, meaning Jama has a packed few weeks ahead.
While Jama handles hosting duties, Dias is currently focused on returning to fitness. The Manchester City centre-back has been sidelined since the club’s 1–1 draw with Chelsea in early January.
He will miss City’s final Champions League league-phase match against Galatasaray but is expected to return next month, potentially in time for the high-profile Premier League clash against Liverpool on February 8.
With Pep Guardiola dealing with multiple defensive injuries — including John Stones and Josko Gvardiol — Dias’ return cannot come soon enough.
Whether it’s across continents or timelines, Maya Jama and Ruben Dias continue to capture attention — not just for their careers, but for their authenticity.
For now, it’s TikTok edits in Cape Town and recovery sessions in Manchester — but fans know the reunion won’t be too far away.
