Adama Traore Completes West London Switch As West Ham Go All-In On Survival Fight

West Ham United have added raw power and Premier League experience to their relegation battle, completing the signing of Adama Traore from Fulham in a deal that could rise to £2 million.

The 30-year-old winger makes the short move from west to east London, reuniting with Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager who previously got the best out of him during their time together at Wolves.

A Familiar Face For Nuno

Traore arrives for an initial £1m, with performance-related add-ons potentially taking the deal to £2m — a low-risk move with a potentially high upside for a West Ham side desperate for momentum.

Despite being capped eight times by Spain, Traore found opportunities limited at Fulham this season, making just two Premier League starts and missing their recent win over Brighton. His final appearance came in the FA Cup victory over Middlesbrough earlier this month.

Now, he gets a fresh start — and a familiar manager.

“I’m so happy to be here, so happy to help the team the maximum I can and show my quality,” Traore said after completing the move.
“My mentality is always to do better. If I’m the same person as yesterday, it’s one day lost.”

What Traore Brings To West Ham

At his best, Traore offers something few defenders enjoy dealing with:

  • Explosive pace

  • Physical dominance

  • Direct running

  • Tactical flexibility across the front line

While consistency has often been questioned, under Nuno’s guidance at Wolves, Traore enjoyed his most productive Premier League spell — something West Ham will be hoping to replicate during the run-in.

West Ham’s January Rebuild Continues

Traore is just the latest addition in what has been a busy and aggressive January window for the Hammers.

Already signed:

  • Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente (£20m)

  • Taty Castellanos from Lazio (£25.2m)

Departures and potential exits:

  • Guido Rodriguez → Valencia

  • Luis Guilherme → Sporting

  • Niclas Fullkrug → AC Milan (loan)

  • Talks ongoing to sell Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo

The message is clear: West Ham are reshaping fast.

Survival Mode Activated

Despite back-to-back league wins, West Ham remain in the relegation zone, sitting on 20 points, five adrift of safety with 15 games left to play.

Traore’s arrival isn’t about long-term planning — it’s about immediate impact, depth, and energy in the fight to stay up.

If Nuno can reignite the version of Traore that once terrorised Premier League full-backs, this could prove to be one of the shrewdest deals of the window.
