Jurgen Klopp and Erling Haaland linked with Real Madrid amid 2026 transfer plans
Real Madrid are once again thinking big — very big. According to fresh reports from Germany, Florentino Perez is already laying the groundwork for a blockbuster summer in 2026, with Jurgen Klopp and Erling Haaland identified as potential “saviours” to restore dominance at the Santiago Bernabeu.
After a turbulent period that saw Xabi Alonso dismissed and Clasico defeats to Barcelona continue to sting, Los Blancos are preparing a familiar response: go galactico.
According to Sky Sports Deutschland, Perez is “looking for saviours and has big dreams.” That statement alone will send shockwaves across European football.
The Real Madrid president has never shied away from bold, era-defining decisions. From Zidane to Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo to Mbappe, Perez has repeatedly reshaped world football by combining superstars on the pitch with iconic figures off it.
Now, with the club struggling for stability and authority, he appears ready to do it again.
With Álvaro Arbeloa currently holding the fort as interim manager, Real Madrid are actively discussing long-term options behind the scenes — and Jurgen Klopp’s name has surfaced.
The former Liverpool boss stepped away from management in the summer of 2024 and now serves as Global Head of Soccer for Red Bull. Despite repeatedly stating he has no immediate plans to return to coaching, Madrid’s interest is real.
Klopp recently admitted that his phone has been ringing since Alonso’s dismissal, though not directly from Madrid. Still, he acknowledged surprise at Alonso’s sacking and confirmed that he has been contacted by several figures in football about the situation.
While Klopp insists the speculation “has absolutely nothing to do” with him for now, Sky Sports reports that Real Madrid strongly appeal to the 58-year-old and that he would seriously consider an offer — if Perez commits to a long-term project and meets his demands.
No rebuild at Real Madrid is complete without a generational striker — and that’s where Erling Haaland comes in.
The Manchester City goal machine remains one of the most feared forwards in world football, and Perez reportedly sees him as the ideal focal point for Madrid’s next great era. Pairing Haaland with the club’s existing stars would instantly restore fear across Europe and reassert Madrid’s dominance both commercially and competitively.
While any deal would be complex, expensive, and politically delicate, Perez has never been deterred by difficulty when a vision is involved.
Klopp is not the only name linked with the Bernabeu. Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca and Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane have also been mentioned.
However, Zidane’s relationship with Perez is believed to be strained despite two Champions League-winning spells, and the Frenchman is widely expected to take charge of the France national team after the 2026 World Cup.
That reality keeps Klopp firmly in the conversation — even if the timing is not yet right.
For now, these plans remain aspirational rather than immediate. But one thing is clear: Real Madrid are already looking beyond short-term fixes.
Florentino Perez wants a reset that shocks football once again — a manager who can command the dressing room and a striker who guarantees goals at historic levels.
If Jurgen Klopp and Erling Haaland ever arrive together in Madrid, it wouldn’t just be a rebuild.
It would be a statement to the world.
