FIFA Partners With TikTok As ‘Preferred Platform’ For 2026 World Cup, Changing How Fans Experience The Tournament

The way football fans experience the 2026 World Cup is set to transform dramatically, after FIFA announced a groundbreaking partnership with TikTok.

The social media giant has been named the tournament’s first-ever ‘Preferred Platform’, granting it unprecedented access to World Cup content. The agreement runs through the end of 2026 and represents FIFA’s most significant embrace of social media as a primary distribution channel for the world’s biggest sporting event.

Enhanced Coverage And Creator Access

Under the deal, TikTok will offer increased original content and become the go-to destination for fans and creators throughout the tournament. Official FIFA broadcast partners will be able to:

  • Live-stream portions of matches on TikTok

  • Post curated clips and highlights

  • Access special FIFA-produced content designed for the platform

  • Monetise coverage through TikTok’s premium advertising solutions

FIFA has also introduced a creator programme, giving select global TikTok creators behind-the-scenes access to press conferences, training sessions, and exclusive moments. A wider pool of creators will also be able to co-create content using FIFA archival footage.

Interactive Fan Hub

TikTok will launch an immersive FIFA World Cup 2026 hub powered by TikTok GamePlan. Fans can expect:

  • Match schedules and ticket info

  • Custom stickers, filters, and gamification features

  • Interactive experiences to connect with other football supporters

James Stafford, TikTok’s Global Head of Content, highlighted the platform’s influence on global football fandom:

“Football has experienced explosive global growth on TikTok over the past few years. TikTok GamePlan turns fandom into measurable business results, with fans being 42% more likely to tune in to live matches after watching sports content on TikTok.”

Protecting FIFA Content

The partnership also includes anti-piracy measures to protect FIFA’s intellectual property throughout the tournament.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup expands to 48 teams and will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, kicking off in June 2026. Unfortunately for Africa, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will miss the global showpiece, losing out on billions in potential revenue.

FIFA and TikTok’s collaboration promises to make the 2026 World Cup more interactive, accessible, and immersive than ever before, ensuring fans around the world are closer to the action.
