Manchester United Fans Celebrate Ruben Amorim Sacking
Manchester United have dismissed head coach Ruben Amorim after a turbulent 14-month spell in charge, triggering jubilant reactions from parts of the club’s fanbase online.
The Portuguese coach, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November 2024, leaves Old Trafford following a series of disappointing results. United endured a disastrous 15th-place finish in the 2024–25 Premier League season, suffered a Europa League final defeat, and currently sit sixth in the top flight.
Fans React Online
Within minutes of the official announcement, sections of the United support took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their delight. Social media posts ranged from humorous takes to outright celebrations, with some supporters using the phrase “Thank you, father” in response to the news.
The move marks a clear end to Amorim’s tenure, which had been increasingly marred by inconsistent results and public disagreements with the club’s hierarchy.
Interim Management
Darren Fletcher, the club’s Under-18s coach and former Manchester United midfielder, has been appointed as interim manager until the end of the season. His first match in charge will be Wednesday’s Premier League fixture against Burnley, giving fans a first glimpse at the club’s new temporary leadership.
For now, the focus for the Red Devils is on stabilizing results while supporters hope for a brighter long-term managerial appointment to turn around a turbulent campaign.
