Jalen Hurts Makes NFL History With Bizarre Double Turnover As Chargers Stun Eagles
When The NFL Scripts Itself, You Get A Moment Like This
The Philadelphia Eagles walked into Monday’s clash hoping to snap a losing streak—but instead, they left with a moment the NFL has never seen before.
And Jalen Hurts? He unintentionally became the face of one of the strangest turnovers in league history.
In the second quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers, Hurts managed to lose the ball twice on the same play. Yes—twice.
Here’s how the chaos unfolded:
-
Hurts threw an interception straight into the hands of Da’Shawn Hand.
-
Hand then fumbled the ball during the return.
-
Hurts picked it back up, only to fumble again after absorbing a tackle.
According to US reports, this is the first recorded instance since 1978 of a player committing two turnovers on the same play.
Even for football, that’s next-level wild.
A Rough Night For Hurts As Eagles Fall Again
If the bizarre play wasn’t enough, Hurts went on to throw a career-high four interceptions, including a heartbreaking overtime pick at the one-yard line by Tony Jefferson.
The Chargers didn’t waste the opening.
Cameron Dicker nailed a 54-yard field goal—his fifth of the night—to secure a gritty 22–19 win. It matched the longest field goal of his career, and it slammed the door shut on Philadelphia’s comeback attempt.
Meanwhile, Chargers QB Justin Herbert—playing just days after hand surgery—completed 12 of 26 passes for 139 yards in a gutsy outing.
What This Means For Both Teams
The Chargers continue their impressive momentum, claiming five wins in their last six and climbing to second in the AFC West.
The Eagles stay on top of the NFC East, but three consecutive losses raise serious questions about their form, execution, and mental sharpness heading into the next stretch of the season.
Both teams return to action on December 14, with:
-
Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs
-
Eagles vs Las Vegas Raiders
NFL fans might just be in for another chaotic week.
