Liverpool Plot January Move For Rodrygo As Mohamed Salah Edges Toward Exit
Liverpool appear ready to shake up the January transfer window as they consider launching a bold move for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo — a reaction to the growing uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield.
Salah set the football world buzzing after his explosive post-match interview following Liverpool’s 3–3 draw with Leeds. The Egyptian superstar hinted that he feels “thrown under the bus” after being benched for three consecutive matches, raising questions about whether his decade-long Anfield journey is nearing its end.
Despite signing a two-year contract earlier this year, Salah has been linked with major moves abroad, including interest from the Saudi Pro League and Turkish giants Galatasaray. While he was a key figure in Liverpool’s Premier League triumph under Arne Slot, his form this season has dipped — four goals and two assists in 13 league appearances.
With Salah hinting that this weekend’s clash against Brighton could potentially be his last Liverpool outing before heading to AFCON, the Reds are preparing for life after their legendary winger.
Reports from Spain suggest that Liverpool have identified Real Madrid’s Rodrygo as the ideal successor. The Brazilian has struggled for consistent game time under Xabi Alonso, making only three league starts this season. Real Madrid have reportedly set a €70 million price tag, and Liverpool are weighing whether to strike now before competition intensifies.
Rodrygo isn’t the only player on Liverpool’s radar. Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo — who has a £65m release clause — is also considered a strong option, with Manchester City and Tottenham showing interest as well. PSG’s Bradley Barcola and Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise are additional names on the Reds’ shortlist as they look to reinforce the wings.
If Salah’s era at Liverpool truly ends in January, the club seems determined not to be caught unprepared. With Rodrygo at the top of their list, the next transfer window could reshape the future of the Premier League champions.
