Milan Škriniar Reveals Fenerbahce’s Game Plan To Contain Victor Osimhen Ahead Of The Intercontinental Derby
Fenerbahce defender Milan Škriniar has shared his thoughts on the best way to handle Galatasaray’s in-form striker Victor Osimhen ahead of the highly anticipated Intercontinental Derby.
Osimhen has been unstoppable this season, scoring 14 goals in 17 matches for both Galatasaray and the Nigerian national team. But his availability for the derby remains uncertain as he continues to recover from an injury picked up during Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying playoffs.
With the match set to take place at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, the big question remains: will Osimhen be fit in time?
Škriniar, who has faced the Nigerian forward six times in his career, knows exactly how dangerous he can be. His record against Osimhen stands at one win, three draws, and two losses — enough experience to respect the striker’s threat.
The Slovakian defender explained that Fenerbahce must stay compact, organised, and laser-focused if they want to keep Osimhen quiet. Denying him space, he said, will be the key to managing Galatasaray’s attacking firepower.
But it’s not just Osimhen causing concern. Mauro Icardi remains another major threat, and Škriniar emphasised that the entire back line must stay alert for both forwards.
Speaking to Turkish outlet Fanatik, he said:
“We had our first discussion about Galatasaray today and will have video analysis meetings tomorrow. We hadn’t focused on this match before because for us, the next game is always the most important one.”
He added, “Icardi and Osimhen are both very good strikers. What we need to do is be compact, aggressive, and united so we can stop them.”
A win on Monday would lift Fenerbahce to the top of the league table after fourteen matches — raising the stakes even higher for this already heated rivalry.
