Jamie Carragher Warns Arne Slot Has Two Weeks To Save Liverpool Job

A former Liverpool star has delivered a brutal reality check to manager Arne Slot, insisting the Dutch tactician is running out of time to avoid being sacked.

Legendary defender Jamie Carragher believes Slot has just two weeks to turn things around, despite reports suggesting the Liverpool board still considers him safe amid the club’s alarming collapse in form.

Liverpool’s Season Spirals Out Of Control

After last season’s Premier League title triumph under Slot, Liverpool entered the new campaign with confidence — and serious investment. The Reds spent between £440m and £450m in the summer window, including the British-record signing of Alexander Isak for £125m.

But instead of building on success, Liverpool’s form has plummeted dramatically.

The Reds have suffered nine defeats in their last 12 games across all competitions, with six Premier League losses dragging them down to 12th place on the table.
Tuesday’s humiliating 4–1 defeat at Anfield to PSV in the Champions League intensified the pressure, prompting Carragher to make a damning assessment.

What Carragher Said

Writing in his column for The Telegraph, Carragher did not mince words. He stated that Slot must secure at least seven points from the next nine available if he wants to remain Liverpool manager.

“Arne Slot has a week to save his job,” Carragher wrote.
He emphasized that the next three fixtures — West Ham, Sunderland, and Leeds United — will determine Slot’s future.

“Anything fewer than seven points will make an already unacceptable situation untenable,” he added. “No matter how much goodwill the manager has, Liverpool Football Club cannot sustain the drop in standards witnessed over the past three months.”

Carragher, who spent his entire professional career at Liverpool, highlighted that the club rarely sacks managers who have delivered success — but insisted that current results leave the board with no choice if things don’t improve immediately.

The Clock Is Ticking

With expectations sky-high and performances dropping fast, Slot now enters the most crucial stretch of his Liverpool career.
Fail to deliver, and the club may be forced into a decision it hoped never to make.
