Tottenham In Crisis: Can Thomas Frank Turn Things Around With This 8-Point Plan?

Thomas Frank Heed This Warning! Tottenham Boss Faces Premature Sacking Unless He Follows Eight-Point Checklist To Save Spurs’ Season

Three games into the 2025-26 season under new head coach Thomas Frank, Tottenham fans had every reason to be excited. Spurs impressed in their UEFA Super Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties, dominated Burnley in their Premier League opener, and even shocked Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Fast-forward three months, and things have taken a sharp downturn. Spurs have struggled in key matches, losing 1-0 to Chelsea and suffering a humiliating 4-1 defeat to North London rivals Arsenal. Across these two matches, Tottenham registered only six shots with a combined expected goals tally of 0.17, highlighting a lack of attacking creativity.

Frank, hired to bring calm and structure to a young squad, has instead produced a team that struggles to excite and, crucially, to score enough points to justify a defensive approach. Even Frank’s Brentford sides, operating with far less talent, never descended to such lows.

CEO Vinai Venkatesham praised Frank for scoring highest on a 10-point checklist among 30 managerial candidates. But with fans growing restless, that faith will be tested unless Spurs get back on track.

Here are eight key steps Thomas Frank should consider to turn Tottenham’s season around:

1. Destroy The ‘Bentinha’ Midfield
Pairing Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur has been a major issue. While capable individually, together they fail to control matches or progress the ball effectively. Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, and Archie Gray offer fresh energy and creativity that must be utilized more.

2. Keep The Ball On The Floor
Spurs’ predictable long-ball approach has stifled creativity. A return to structured, short-passing play—akin to Mauricio Pochettino’s early philosophy—can help unlock defenses and generate consistent attacking chances.

3. Refresh The Attack
Relying too heavily on Richarlison and the front line’s occasional brilliance is not enough. Frank must identify players who can stretch defenses and provide more goal-scoring options.

4. Strengthen Defensive Cohesion
Conceding easy chances in critical areas has cost Spurs dearly. A more disciplined defensive setup, combined with effective pressing triggers, could reduce vulnerability.

5. Improve Set-Piece Efficiency
Tottenham’s only consistent in-possession threat currently comes from set pieces. Expanding creative drills to open-play scenarios can diversify goal threats.

6. Rotate Smartly
Fatigue and form dips have hurt Spurs. Integrating squad depth strategically can maintain performance levels while reducing injury risks.

7. Cultivate Confidence
Players like Palhinha need tailored guidance to boost confidence and decision-making. A mentally resilient squad is vital to recover from setbacks quickly.

8. Reignite Fan Engagement
Spurs’ identity under Frank has felt bland. Engaging fans with entertaining football—while balancing pragmatism—will ensure continued support during turbulent periods.

Tottenham’s current struggles are not insurmountable. By addressing these key areas, Thomas Frank can steer Spurs back to competitiveness in the Premier League and restore faith in his management.
