You Discuss Him As Defenders: Timber Admits Arsenal Are Plotting How To Silence Harry Kane Ahead Of Bayern Clash
Arsenal are gearing up for a heavyweight Champions League clash as Premier League leaders prepare to host Bundesliga top side Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night. Both teams are undefeated in the group stages, boasting perfect records with 12 points from four games. With 11 goals scored and none conceded, Arsenal are in scintillating form—but Bayern, who have netted 41 goals in 11 Bundesliga matches, will pose a stern test.
One player commanding particular attention is England captain Harry Kane. The 32-year-old striker has been in prolific form this season, scoring 26 goals in 19 appearances across club and country. Arsenal defenders, however, see him as a challenge to conquer rather than a threat to fear.
Timber: Kane Is A “Nice Challenge”
Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber acknowledged Kane’s quality but insisted the Gunners are ready to face him head-on.
“That is not going to be easy, of course. He is an amazing striker, everyone knows that. He has so many qualities and has been doing it for such a long time,” Timber said. “Now at Bayern Munich, he is one of the best players in the world. So, it is going to be a nice challenge for us as a team, as defenders, to stop him. When you face an opposition with Harry Kane as the striker, he is a topic and you discuss him as defenders because he is one of the dangerous players. It’s the same with any other game.”
Timber emphasized the collective nature of Arsenal’s defensive effort. With key defenders like Gabriel out, everyone must step up.
“It is just everyone taking their responsibility in defending and also attacking. For example, Eberechi Eze scored three goals against Tottenham the other day but was defensively outstanding as well. That shows the whole team is stepping up,” he added.
Kane Wary of Arsenal Threat
Harry Kane, meanwhile, remains focused on helping Bayern secure victory. While he has an impressive history against Arsenal—scoring 11 goals during his time at Tottenham—he insists past results won’t affect Wednesday’s fixture.
“With Tottenham, it was always one of the biggest games of the season against Arsenal, but now it’s Bayern against Arsenal. I’m in good form, and it’s all about helping my team and scoring goals,” Kane said.
This matchup promises a tactical battle, pitting Kane’s lethal finishing against Arsenal’s disciplined defence. With both sides unbeaten and high on confidence, the clash is shaping up to be one of the most exciting fixtures in this season’s Champions League.
