Jamie Carragher Fires Fresh Shot at Mohamed Salah Amid Liverpool Crisis

Carragher Takes Aim at Salah as Liverpool Struggle

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has reignited his long-running criticism of Mohamed Salah, accusing the Egyptian star of failing to show leadership while the club battles a major crisis under Arne Slot.

Carragher praised captain Virgil van Dijk for consistently fronting the media after defeats but questioned why Salah — one of Liverpool’s biggest figures — has stayed silent.

“I only ever hear Salah speak when he wins Man of the Match or when he wants a new contract,”
Carragher said on Monday Night Football.

The Reds have crashed to 12th place, losing six of their last seven Premier League matches, prompting Carragher to demand accountability from senior players.

A Feud Reignited

Carragher and Salah previously clashed during the forward’s contract saga in 2023. At the time, Carragher labelled Salah “selfish” for publicly complaining about his contract situation during the title race.

Salah eventually signed a two-year extension — and the tension faded.
But Liverpool’s current collapse has reopened old wounds.

Carragher noted that while Salah scored 34 goals last season, he has only five goals in 17 matches this term. Yet, he has remained silent even as Van Dijk fronts the criticism.

“Come Out as a Leader” – Carragher

Carragher insisted Salah must show leadership beyond goalscoring:

“Van Dijk always comes out and speaks. But other players should, too. A year ago, Salah wasn’t shy about talking when it was about his contract.

I’d like to see Salah come out as one of the leaders — as one of the legends of Liverpool — and speak for the team.”

Carragher also warned that poor form puts Arne Slot under real pressure despite his massive summer spending.

Slot Insists the Solution Is “Not Far Away”

Despite the slide, Slot remains optimistic.
He denied that confidence has collapsed:

“I don’t see a lack of confidence. We create chances every game. The solution is not far away.”

Slot urged his players to be mentally stronger after conceding early goals in back-to-back matches.

Liverpool now enter a crucial stretch — with pressure rising on the manager, the squad, and especially their silent superstar.
