Antonela Roccuzzo smiling during a sports session in Miami
Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, recently found herself at the centre of an unexpected viral moment after luxury watch influencer Ziv Tamir, also known as “Ziv the Watch Guy,” approached her during a casual padel session in Miami.
Tamir, famous for asking strangers wearing luxury watches, “What do you do for a living?”, spotted Antonela sporting a stunning Tiffany & Co. Schlumberger Rope watch, valued at around £20,500 ($26,800). Unaware of who she was, he walked up confidently and asked his signature question.
Antonela looked visibly confused, smiled awkwardly, and glanced at her friend for translation. Rather than explain her global status, she politely offered a smile and thumbs-up before ending the short but hilarious exchange. The internet quickly did the rest.
The clip went viral — not because of what she said, but because Ziv had absolutely no idea he was speaking to Lionel Messi’s wife, arguably one of the most recognisable faces in world football culture.
While Antonela was going viral off the pitch, Lionel Messi continues dominating on it.
Since joining Inter Miami, Messi has transformed the club from struggling MLS underdogs into trophy winners. His achievements include:
2023 Leagues Cup title
2024 Supporters’ Shield
All-time top scorer and assist leader for Inter Miami
MLS Golden Boot winner with 29 goals and 19 assists
Record of five assists in one match, a league first
Beyond statistics, Messi’s presence has elevated the league’s global appeal, boosted stadium attendance, and helped reshape MLS’ commercial momentum.
Yet, despite his Miami success, Messi hasn’t hidden his emotional longing for Barcelona.
Speaking to SPORT, Messi shared heartfelt thoughts about returning to Barcelona someday:
“I really want to go back there… My wife and I, the kids, are constantly talking about Barcelona and the idea of moving back.”
He emphasised that Barcelona is still home, adding:
“I’ll be here [Miami] for a few more years, most likely, but we’ll return to Barcelona. We miss it a lot.”
His dream? To return as a fan, sit in the stands, and enjoy the team like any other supporter once the renovated Camp Nou is complete.
Fans hoping for a fairytale reunion may be disappointed.
Despite Messi’s emotional ties, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has firmly dampened expectations:
“Messi’s return as a player is not realistic… The club is building for the future.”
Messi also signed an extension keeping him at Inter Miami through 2028.
A tribute match at the new Camp Nou remains likely, but a playing return is all but ruled out.
