Dominic Solanke training with Tottenham Hotspur during recovery period
Tottenham fans have been counting the days, and honestly, so has Dominic Solanke. The Spurs striker has finally broken his silence on the frustrating ankle injury that has kept him out for almost the entire season—and his story is one every football fan can relate to.
Solanke, who was expected to play a huge role under new manager Thomas Frank, has featured in only three competitive matches this season. His last appearance? All the way back in August during Spurs’ 2–0 win over Manchester City. Since then, it’s been scans, pain, setbacks, and the dreaded “small procedure.”
But now, he’s speaking up.
In a candid chat with The Athletic, Solanke admitted that his injury problems were far worse than initially expected:
“At first, I didn’t think I would be out for too long… I was trying to get back as quickly as I could but it didn’t happen, so I had to have surgery.”
That surgery has kept him away from the pitch, the fans, and crucially—Spurs’ attack. With no clear timeline for return, Solanke says he’s taking it “day by day”, hoping to be back “not much longer.”
Fair enough. We’ve all heard the “I’ll be back next week” scam before.
Spurs are currently 5th in the Premier League, and while their away form is immaculate, their home form has been… let’s just say “Wolves-adjacent.” Literally—only Wolves have a worse home record.
Richarlison has tried to fill the scoring gap, but with only four goals in eleven games, Tottenham clearly miss their Europa League-winning sharpshooter.
Throw in injuries to James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Randal Kolo Muani, and Thomas Frank has been left juggling tactics like a magician without his hat.
Despite barely working under the new boss due to his injury, Solanke had high praise for Thomas Frank:
“He is a great man manager… It’s a great environment.”
From Brentford to Spurs, Frank has transformed the energy around the club—from training ground dynamics to matchday mentality. The big question is… how much better will Spurs look once their injured front line returns?
We may find out soon.
Solanke didn’t just come to Tottenham for the vibes; he came for silverware. And earlier this year, he finally got it—lifting the Europa League title in Bilbao.
He revealed the exact moment he knew Spurs had beaten Manchester United in the final:
“I asked the referee, ‘What’s going on?’ He said, ‘It’s done.’
When Onana kicked the ball, I said to myself, ‘Damn, we did it.’”
Call it joy. Call it relief. Call it the greatest moment of his footballing life.
And now? He wants that feeling again.
With Spurs pushing for Champions League qualification and challenging again in Europe, Solanke’s return could be the difference between “just vibes” and “actual trophies.”
If he comes back strong—and stays fit—Spurs’ attack could go from inconsistent to unstoppable.
And if Richarlison, Maddison, Kulu, and Kolo Muani also return?
Let’s just say the Premier League should stay alert.
This comeback story is shaping up to be one of the biggest football narratives of the season.

Stay tuned. Solanke is coming.
