Freya Godfrey Celebrates Maiden England Call-Up With London City Lionesses Kit
London City Lionesses midfielder Freya Godfrey has been handed her first-ever call-up to the senior England squad, marking a major milestone in the Arsenal academy graduate’s career.
Godfrey joins a 25-player roster named by manager Sarina Wiegman for the upcoming Homecoming Series, which will see the Euro 2025 champions face China at Wembley Stadium on November 29 and Ghana at St Mary’s in Southampton on December 2.
Manchester City stars Lauren Hemp and Grace Clinton return from injury, providing a boost to England’s squad as the Lionesses close out their 2025 fixtures. Wiegman’s selection continues her trend of integrating talent from the U23 ranks, keeping the pathway from youth to senior football open.
The Homecoming Series marks the final matches of 2025 for England. The Lionesses will face China at Wembley, with 80,000 tickets already issued for the clash against the Asian champions. Following that, they will travel to the south coast to play Ghana.
Earlier in 2025, England lost 1-0 to World Cup winners Spain in January but bounced back with a 6-0 thrashing of Portugal at home in May, showcasing their attacking firepower and depth.
