Ivan Juric Quashes Rift Rumours, Praises Ademola Lookman Ahead Of Sassuolo Clash
Atalanta manager Ivan Juric has officially put an end to speculation about a fallout with Ademola Lookman, confirming that the issue between them is “completely behind us.”
The coach’s comments come just days after the pair were spotted in a heated touchline exchange during Atalanta’s Champions League victory over Marseille — a moment that quickly became the talk of Italian football.
Juric Plays Down Lookman Incident
Speaking at his pre-match press conference in Zingonia, Juric clarified that the misunderstanding was nothing more than an emotional outburst during a high-pressure game.
“Ademola is unusual; you get over it. Sometimes these incidents even help improve relationships,” Juric said.
He compared the incident to a similar situation earlier in the season with goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, noting that such moments can sometimes bring stronger unity to the team.
Juric also went on to praise Lookman’s composure and commitment, revealing that the winger trained normally with the squad after the incident.
“He played an excellent game in France,” the coach continued. “Even though his goal was disallowed, he showed great maturity afterwards.”
Lookman’s Focus Shifts To Sassuolo And Super Eagles Duty
With the air cleared, Lookman is expected to return to the starting XI when Atalanta face Sassuolo, as the club continues its push for a top-four Serie A finish.
The 2024 African Footballer of the Year will then link up with the Super Eagles camp in Morocco, where Nigeria are set to face Gabon in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff.
For Lookman, the brief spat now seems to be nothing more than a minor bump in an otherwise stellar season — and Juric’s praise suggests that both men are firmly focused on keeping Atalanta’s momentum alive.
