Robert Sanchez Declares Moises Caicedo “Best Player On The Planet In His Position”
Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez has showered glowing praise on his teammate Moises Caicedo, hailing the Ecuadorian as “the best player on the planet in his position.”
The goalkeeper’s bold claim came after Caicedo’s standout performance in Chelsea’s 1-0 derby victory over Tottenham, where his crucial assist for Joao Pedro’s first-half goal proved decisive.
Sanchez: “He’s A Beast, The Best In The World”
Caicedo was immense throughout the contest — registering seven ball recoveries and four interceptions — and completely controlling the midfield battle.
“I don’t really need to talk about him, but he’s an actual animal,” Sanchez said.
“He’s the best player on the planet in his position. He’s one of the best in the world — who is better than him in that position? He’s a beast. Every 50-50, every challenge he wins, and he’s so composed on the ball.”
From Brighton To Chelsea: Same Humble Star
Sanchez, who also shared the pitch with Caicedo at Brighton, praised the midfielder’s consistency and humility despite his rapid rise to stardom.
“As a player and as a character, he’s always been the same: hard work, effort, quiet, but a very good guy,” Sanchez continued.
“Obviously, he’s filled out with his body a bit more with age and experience — he’s just got better and better on the pitch. His confidence has gone higher and higher. He’s a boss at winning the midfield.”
Caicedo’s Growing Influence At Chelsea
Since joining Chelsea, Caicedo has gradually evolved into a crucial part of the team’s identity — breaking up play, dictating tempo, and showing leadership beyond his years. His chemistry with Enzo Fernández and now Joao Pedro gives the Blues’ midfield a new dynamic edge.
Sanchez’s statement may raise eyebrows across Europe, but few can deny that Caicedo’s performances this season have firmly placed him among the elite defensive midfielders in world football.
