NFF Holds Super Eagles Squad List Ahead Of World Cup Qualifier Playoffs In Morocco
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that it currently holds the Super Eagles’ provisional squad list for the upcoming World Cup qualifier playoff in Morocco, according to reports from OwnGoalNigeria.com.
Nigeria will begin their quest to secure one of Africa’s remaining Intercontinental Playoff spots on November 13, when they face Gabon in the first semi-final clash. The winner will then go head-to-head with either Cameroon or Congo DR in what promises to be a fierce final showdown.
Although the list of players selected for the crucial mini-tournament is yet to be made public, an NFF official revealed that head coach Eric Chelle has already submitted it — but is waiting to confirm the fitness status of a few key players before giving final approval.
“Chelle has submitted the list already, but he hasn’t given the NFF permission to make it public yet,” a top NFF chieftain disclosed.
“I think he is checking and waiting on fitness updates on some players before making a final decision. There’s also talk about expanding the squad to 25 players instead of the usual 22 or 23. As soon as Chelle gives the go-ahead, it will be made public.”
The anticipation around the squad announcement continues to grow, with fans eager to know which stars will be called upon to lead Nigeria’s push for World Cup qualification.
As the countdown to the playoffs begins, all eyes remain on Chelle’s Super Eagles, who will be looking to prove their mettle and secure Nigeria’s return to the global stage.
