Enzo Maresca Confirms Key Chelsea Trio Fit For Spurs Clash

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has delivered a welcome boost for fans ahead of Monday night’s London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, confirming that Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Joao Pedro are all available for selection.

The Blues’ recent visits to North London have been filled with drama — from their chaotic 4-1 win last season against nine-man Spurs to a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory earlier this year, powered by Cole Palmer’s brace and a cool Panenka penalty.

However, Chelsea will be without Palmer this time around, as the forward remains sidelined with a persistent groin issue. Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile, and Dario Essugo are also unavailable, while Liam Delap serves a suspension following his red card in the Carabao Cup defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Maresca: “They Are Okay, They Are Available”

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Maresca explained that the decision to rest key players midweek was purely precautionary.

“They are okay, they are available. The reason why Joao didn’t play against Wolves is that we tried to protect him. It was the same with Moi and Enzo — just giving them some minutes. But the idea is to protect these players,” he said.

The Chelsea boss highlighted the importance of rotation and careful workload management as the season progresses.

“Game by game, we can’t plan with them because of their problems and situations. So, it’s about taking it game-by-game and seeing how many minutes we can use them. We try to use the whole squad because, at this moment, we need everyone.”

Palmer Still Sidelined

When asked about Cole Palmer’s recovery, Maresca maintained that there’s no exact date for his return but expressed optimism about his progress.

“With Cole, the plan is exactly the same. We will wait and hopefully he can be back soon,” he said.

Chelsea fans will be hoping that the return of Caicedo, Fernandez, and Joao Pedro can provide the spark needed to extend their strong record against Spurs and keep momentum building as they chase a top-four finish.
