Victor Osimhen celebrating a goal for Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League
When you think of pure power, relentless energy, and jaw-dropping finishing ability — you think Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian superstar has taken Turkey by storm since returning to Galatasaray on a permanent deal last summer for a league-record €75 million. And according to former Fenerbahce forward Serhat Akın, Osimhen is not just another top striker — he’s the greatest to ever grace the Turkish Super Lig.
Akın, who won three league titles with Fenerbahce in the early 2000s, couldn’t hold back his admiration. Speaking via habersarikirmizi, he said:
“Osimhen is an extraordinary man. I think he’s the greatest centre-forward to ever grace this league.”
And he’s got a point.
Osimhen’s numbers are nothing short of phenomenal. Since his loan spell last season, the Super Eagles star has notched 45 goal involvements in 41 matches, inspiring Galatasaray to a historic domestic double.
This season, he’s picked up right where he left off — scoring six goals already, including vital ones in the UEFA Champions League. In fact, he recently made history as Galatasaray’s fastest Champions League goalscorer and the first player to net in seven consecutive European matches for the club.
While Akın acknowledges Mauro Icardi’s brilliance, he insists Osimhen brings something extra.
“Icardi is a pure striker, he did amazing things for two years and became top scorer. But if I were a manager, I’d be incredibly happy to have Osimhen. He’s my dream centre-forward.”
It’s hard to argue with that.
Beyond the stats, Osimhen’s work rate, aggression, and hunger make him a nightmare for defenders. His performances have not only lifted Galatasaray but also reignited the global spotlight on the Turkish league.
And with a nomination for African Footballer of the Year and a recent hat-trick that sent Nigeria into the World Cup Playoffs, Osimhen’s star keeps shining brighter.
At this point, it’s not just about goals — it’s about greatness.
