Marcus Rashford Loving Life At Barcelona: “I Hope To Be Here For A Long Time”

Marcus Rashford seems to have found peace, joy, and purpose again — only this time, far away from Manchester.

The English forward, who left Manchester United earlier this summer to join Barcelona on loan, has been thriving under Hansi Flick and has made it clear: he’s in no rush to go back to Old Trafford.

How Life Turned Sour At Manchester United

Rashford’s story at United took a difficult turn after what was once a fairytale rise. Following a career-best 30-goal season in 2022–23, things quickly spiraled — on-field struggles, off-field controversies, and tension with then-manager Erik ten Hag.

Even a brief spark during his loan spell at Aston Villa couldn’t steady his form. But when Barcelona came calling again, it felt like the right time for a new chapter.

And so far, that gamble is paying off.

Thriving In Spain Under Hansi Flick

Since arriving in July, Rashford has reignited his career with five goals and six assists in just 12 appearances across all competitions.

The 27-year-old’s pace, directness, and link-up play have become vital to Barça’s attacking rhythm. And according to him, the key has been the team environment.

“I’m really enjoying my time in Spain. The weather is the best part. I’m learning every day, and I hope to be here for a long time,” Rashford told Barcelona’s YouTube channel.
“I get along really well with Roony Bardghji, Jules Kounde, and Frenkie de Jong. We’re united. The team is fantastic.”

A Fresh Start, A New Mindset

For Rashford, this move isn’t just about football — it’s about rediscovery.

“People forget this, but 23 years of my life was with Manchester United. Sometimes you just need a change,” he admitted.
“I don’t feel I’ve changed much, it’s just a new environment and culture. I’m adapting, I’m learning, and I’m hungry to keep improving.”

He also hinted that his move to Barcelona could become permanent:

“It’s not the first time I spoke with Barcelona about coming here. But for whatever reason, it didn’t happen in the past. Now it has — and I believe there’s no time like the present.”

Barcelona’s Gain, United’s Regret?

While Manchester United continues to rebuild, Rashford’s revival in Catalonia may sting for fans back home. But for the player himself, this chapter feels like a rebirth — a chance to play freely, expressively, and happily again.

At Barcelona, Rashford isn’t just finding goals — he’s finding himself.
