The Super Falcons have officially kicked off their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers, and the energy in camp is already buzzing!
As of Monday, 11 players have reported to camp in Lome, Togo, where the Nigerian side will face the Amazons of Benin Republic in the first leg of their qualifier this Friday.
The team’s first official training session saw nine players in action — including Asisat Oshoala, Folashade Ijamilusi, Taiwo Afolabi, Miracle Usani, Joy Omewa, Anderline Mgbechi, Blessing Illivieda, and Kafayat Mafisere — all showing strong early signs of readiness.
Adding to the excitement, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and midfielder Christy Ucheibe linked up with the squad at their Hotel Sarakawa base later in the evening, giving coach Randy Waldrum even more options ahead of the big clash.
More players are expected to arrive before the team’s next training session at 3 pm today, as the Falcons continue fine-tuning their tactics.
The first leg of the crucial qualifier will take place at the Stade de Kegue, Lome, on Friday, while the return leg will be held next Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
With the defending champions eager to secure an early advantage, Nigerian fans are in for a thrilling encounter as the Super Falcons look to continue their dominance on the African stage.
