Mikel Arteta Confident Arsenal Can Stay Top Of Premier League Till Season’s End
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed confidence that his team has what it takes to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League table until the end of the season.
The Gunners currently lead the standings with 16 points, one ahead of defending champions Liverpool, after seven matches played.
Arteta’s men have finished second in each of the last three seasons, with Manchester City (2022/2023 and 2023/2024) and Liverpool (2024/2025) clinching the titles ahead of them. But this time, the Spaniard believes his side can go one better.
“It is possible,” Arteta stated during his pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham. “If we continue to win a lot of full matches, I’m sure we will be there.”
Arsenal, however, will need to overcome a recent hoodoo at Craven Cottage — they haven’t won there in their last two visits.
Looking ahead to the clash, Arteta emphasized the importance of learning from past setbacks.
“You always learn from that,” he said. “It’s true that in the end they will have certain new players… It is different to last season as well. And then the context of the game changes. Immediately, when we are in total control, in one moment, we concede, and then it’s a different game to play.”
The Arsenal boss drew comparisons with previous challenges against Newcastle and West Ham, where his side turned around poor records to secure victories.
“Newcastle is a good example, West Ham as well. In the last two seasons we lost against them at home, so that’s an opportunity tomorrow,” Arteta said. “We know it’s a really tough place to go; they’re a very well-coached team, and we’re going to have to be at our best tomorrow.”
As the Gunners chase their first league title since 2004, Arteta’s message is clear — consistency, focus, and belief will determine whether Arsenal finally lift the Premier League trophy.
