Manchester United could be preparing another ambitious Bellingham chase — but this time, it’s not Jude they’re after. Reports suggest that the Red Devils are monitoring his younger brother, Jobe Bellingham, who joined Borussia Dortmund last summer but has yet to make his mark in Germany.
Jobe, who followed in his brother’s footsteps from Sunderland to Dortmund, was seen as the next big English talent ready to explode on the European stage. However, under coach Niko Kovac, his time on the pitch has been limited, with just 281 minutes of action in eight appearances across all competitions.
While Dortmund’s overall form has been encouraging, Jobe has come under scrutiny, with German football legend Dietmar Hamann suggesting that the 19-year-old has struggled to live up to the massive expectations that come with his surname.
“The only cause for concern seems to be Jobe Bellingham. Young, expensive and, so far, not even half as good as Jude Bellingham. It’s not getting any easier for him,” Hamann remarked.
Amorim Wants Him For His Tactical Project
According to reports from BILD, Manchester United’s new manager Ruben Amorim is a big admirer of Jobe Bellingham’s physicality and versatility. The Portuguese tactician believes the midfielder could slot perfectly into his 3-4-2-1 system, bringing energy and composure to United’s evolving midfield.
Amorim is said to be pushing for fresh legs in the middle of the park after strengthening the attack last summer with the arrivals of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo. With Casemiro aging and Kobbie Mainoo reportedly frustrated by a lack of minutes, United are looking for a youthful, dynamic midfielder to lead the next generation.
Competition From Palace
United are not alone in the race. Crystal Palace are also believed to be monitoring Jobe’s situation closely, especially as they brace for potential interest in Adam Wharton, who has caught the eye of Real Madrid and other top European clubs.
If Wharton departs, Palace could turn to Jobe as his ideal replacement — setting up an interesting transfer battle between the two Premier League sides.
Will Jobe Be Tempted To Return Home?
Despite signing a five-year deal with Dortmund, Jobe’s lack of playing time could tempt him back to England sooner than expected. A move to Old Trafford, under a manager known for nurturing young players, could be exactly what he needs to reignite his career — and perhaps even rival his brother’s legacy one day.
For now, all eyes are on Amorim and whether he’ll make his first bold move in reshaping United’s midfield around one of English football’s most promising surnames.
