Osimhen And Lookman Set To Lead Super Eagles Attack Against Lesotho
Nigeria are gearing up for a must-win clash as the Super Eagles face Lesotho in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday.
All eyes will be on Victor Osimhen, who returns to the squad on the back of an impressive run of form with Galatasaray. The striker has already bagged three goals in the qualifiers and will look to add more as he leads the line. Alongside him, Ademola Lookman of Atalanta and Moses Simon of Paris FC are expected to form a dangerous attacking trio that can unsettle Lesotho’s backline.
The creative spark in midfield could come from Fulham’s playmaker, whose vision and quick link-up play between the midfield and attack may be the key to unlocking Lesotho’s defense. Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka will bring balance, providing defensive cover and breaking up counter-attacks to keep Nigeria in control of the game.
In defense, captain William Troost-Ekong will marshal the backline, pairing with Calvin Bassey at the heart of defense. With Bright Osayi-Samuel unavailable, Sodiq Fredrick could get his first competitive start, making this game an important milestone for him.
Nigeria were held to a frustrating 1–1 draw by Lesotho in Uyo last year, so revenge and redemption will be on their minds. With qualification hopes on the line, the Super Eagles must combine experience, discipline, and clinical finishing to secure all three points.
This is not just another game—it’s a statement of intent. Can Osimhen and Lookman inspire Nigeria to victory?
