United, however, remain adamant—they won’t negotiate a pay cut. Maguire’s salary already dropped by 25 per cent after United missed out on Champions League football in 2024, and any new deal would likely keep him at the same lucrative rate.

Earlier this year, Maguire admitted he’s thinking carefully about his future:

“This year, obviously, I’m up at the end of the year. I’m sure over the next few months they’ll sit down and we’ll have a conversation about where we want to go. It’s an amazing club to play for and you’d be silly if you wanted to jump out of it as soon as you could.”
