Hugo Broos: Bafana Bafana Deserve FIFA World Cup Spot After Hard-Fought Journey

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is full of belief as South Africa prepare for their decisive World Cup qualifiers, insisting that his players have earned the right to dream of competing on football’s biggest stage in North America next year.

The national team gathered in Roodepoort, Johannesburg on Monday morning to begin preparations for their crucial fixtures. First up is an away qualifier against Zimbabwe at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday, 10 October 2025, followed by a home clash against Rwanda at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Tuesday, 14 October 2025. Both matches are scheduled for 18h00 local time.

Broos’ Unshakable Belief

Broos made it clear that confidence in his squad has never wavered.

“There are no doubts, there have never been any doubts from my side, and I will try to transfer this to the players at a meeting we will have on Tuesday,” he said.

“I believe in this group and I am sure that they will do everything in their power to win that game on Friday. Why should we doubt ourselves now after our performances in the qualifiers? If there is a team that deserves to go to the World Cup, it is South Africa.”

Two Years Of Hard Work

South Africa’s campaign has been a steady climb, built on consistency, resilience, and the tactical discipline instilled by Broos. Over the past two years, the team has grown in confidence, producing performances that have reignited hope among fans nationwide.

Now, standing just two matches away from booking their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

A Nation’s Dream

The atmosphere around Bafana Bafana is one of unity and belief. For Broos, it’s not just about results but about rewarding a group of players who have worked tirelessly for their country.

With Zimbabwe and Rwanda standing in their path, the dream of seeing Bafana Bafana on the world stage is closer than it has been in years. And if Hugo Broos has his way, South Africa’s name will be among those competing in North America next year.
