Niger Tornadoes’ Majin Mohammed Blames Complacency and Fatigue for Draw Against Kun Khalifat
Niger Tornadoes head coach Majin Mohammed has attributed his side’s 1-1 home draw against Kun Khalifat FC to complacency and fatigue, insisting his players underestimated their opponents.
How the Match Unfolded
The Ikon Allah Boys looked on course for victory when Abba Khalid opened the scoring with a brilliant strike in the first half. However, Kun Khalifat stunned the home fans with a late equaliser, as Akuta Ugochukwu found the net just nine minutes from time.
Mohammed: “We Underrated Them”
Speaking to the club’s media after the game, Mohammed expressed frustration at his players’ attitude towards a side sitting lower on the league table.
“The players judged Kun Khalifat FC based on their position and I warned them against that. They clearly underrated the opponent,” he said.
The coach also pointed to fatigue as a major factor, citing the team’s hectic travel schedule.
“We travelled to Port Harcourt, played on Wednesday, came back on Thursday night, and had little time to recover. We only had a light shake-up session before this game, so it was difficult.”
A Call for Calm
Despite the setback, Mohammed urged Tornadoes fans to remain patient and continue backing the team.
“We didn’t play badly. We just didn’t take our chances. Whatever we lose here, we can get back elsewhere. Others even lost at home, so we should thank God for the point gained.”
What’s Next?
The draw leaves Niger Tornadoes with work to do as they prepare for their next fixture — a tough away clash against Warri Wolves in Ozoro.
