Jack Grealish Backed for England Recall After Sensational Everton Loan Start
Few players have experienced a career rollercoaster quite like Jack Grealish. From England’s poster boy and a £100m signing at Manchester City, to struggling for form and consistency, the 30-year-old’s career looked at a crossroads. But now, on loan at Everton, Grealish has rediscovered his spark — and England legend Michael Owen believes this revival could earn him a recall to Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad.
A Fresh Start on Merseyside
Grealish’s loan move to Everton this summer raised eyebrows. Leaving the treble-winning City side for a club looking to rebuild at the newly-opened Hill Dickinson Stadium seemed like a step down. Instead, it has turned into a perfect fit.
Under David Moyes, Grealish has been given freedom to express himself — and the results have been immediate. With four assists in just two starts, plus a dramatic 92nd-minute winner against Crystal Palace to end their unbeaten run, he has quickly become Everton’s creative heartbeat.
Owen’s Backing for an England Return
Michael Owen, himself no stranger to the highs and lows of international football, believes Grealish’s form should not go unnoticed by Southgate.
“Jack has found his rhythm again,” Owen said. “He looks sharp, decisive, and hungry. If he keeps this up, he absolutely deserves an England recall.”
Everton’s New Hero
For Everton fans, Grealish is more than just a marquee signing on loan — he’s becoming the face of their new era. The Toffees remain unbeaten in their new home stadium, and Grealish’s flair, leadership, and match-winning ability are central to that.
His performances have not only rejuvenated his own career but also raised Everton’s ambitions. Once seen as relegation battlers, the Toffees are now aiming for European spots, with Grealish at the centre of their charge.
A Path Back to the Three Lions
For Grealish, this resurgence could be perfectly timed. With the Euros and the 2026 World Cup cycle in view, Southgate will be looking for players who can add creativity and unpredictability to England’s attack. If Grealish continues to deliver in Merseyside blue, it might not be long before he pulls on the England shirt once again.
