Lionel Messi Magic: Three Assists Lift Inter Miami Past New England Revolution

When Inter Miami needed a response after their humbling 5-0 defeat to Chicago Fire earlier in the week, there was only one man they could turn to — Lionel Messi.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner delivered a masterclass in playmaking, recording three assists in a 4-1 win over New England Revolution on Saturday night, taking his tally to an incredible 41 goal contributions this season.

Messi The Creator-In-Chief

Manager Javier Mascherano made tactical adjustments, pulling Messi deeper into midfield as a wide playmaker. The move pushed him further away from goal, but it only amplified his influence.

In the 32nd minute, Messi unlocked the game with a no-look through ball to Tadeo Allende, who smashed home the opener. Before halftime, Messi was at it again, flicking a cheeky backheel to Jordi Alba, who doubled Miami’s lead.

Even when New England threatened with a thunderous strike from Dor Turgeman, Messi responded instantly, floating a perfectly weighted diagonal ball over the top for Allende to restore Miami’s two-goal cushion. By then, the Revolution had no answers.

Stats That Speak Volumes

Messi’s three assists underlined his dominance in MLS this season. His ability to dictate tempo, split defenses, and deliver under pressure has been unmatched. With 41 goal contributions, the Argentine remains the heartbeat of an Inter Miami side now pushing for home advantage in the playoffs.

Alba And Friends Benefit From Messi’s Vision

While Messi pulled the strings, Jordi Alba also stole the spotlight with two goals and an assist of his own — the perfect example of how Messi elevates those around him. Every forward movement, every incisive run seemed to flow through the No. 10.

What’s Next For Inter Miami?

With Philadelphia clinching the Supporters’ Shield, Inter Miami may have missed out on one piece of silverware, but Messi’s form ensures they remain genuine contenders for the MLS Cup. Sitting third in the Eastern Conference with a game in hand, the Herons will rely on their talisman to carry them deeper into the postseason.

At 38, Messi isn’t slowing down — he’s rewriting what’s possible in MLS.
