Bassey Hails Mohamed Salah As “Unbelievable” In Sky Sports Interview, Praises Egyptian Star’s Consistency And Global Impact
Nigerian international Tosin Bassey has heaped praise on Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, highlighting the Egyptian’s remarkable consistency and influence both on and off the pitch.
Speaking during a “Best Friend Test” interview with Sky Sports, alongside his compatriot Alex Iwobi, Bassey described Salah as a “nightmare” for defenders.
“Mohamed Salah is unbelievable. He’s such a baller. When you get dragged out to defend him, you’re in trouble,” Bassey said. “Obviously, when we play Liverpool, we usually go half man-for-man, so I’ll often face him directly. I’ve played against him twice and he’s always a handful.”
Salah’s Impressive Start To The Season
The Premier League’s top scorer last season, Salah has continued his fine form into the new campaign, netting three goals and providing three assists in his first six games across all competitions.
Bassey went on to acknowledge Salah’s impact beyond the pitch, noting his role in promoting African football globally.
“He’s also helped promote African football. I’m not saying Yaya Touré didn’t, but I feel like in this generation Salah has had a bigger global impact,” Bassey added.
A Modern African Football Icon
Salah’s combination of talent, consistency, and professionalism has made him one of the most respected figures in world football. For players like Bassey and Iwobi, he represents both a formidable opponent and a source of inspiration for young African footballers aiming to make their mark on the global stage.
