Pep Guardiola’s ‘Dream Target’ Revealed As Man City Eye Second Transfer Raid On PSG After Donnarumma
Manchester City aren’t finished shopping in Paris just yet. After snatching Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2025, Pep Guardiola has reportedly identified Warren Zaïre-Emery as his next “dream target”.
Another PSG Gem On City’s Radar
Zaïre-Emery, once billed as PSG’s crown jewel after debuting at just 16, now finds himself in a tricky spot under Luis Enrique. Despite featuring in seven games this season, the 19-year-old hasn’t quite hit the heights expected — sparking whispers that he could follow Donnarumma out of the Parc des Princes.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has slapped a hefty €100 million (£87m/$117m) price tag on the midfielder. But as City showed with Donnarumma, surprise exits are always possible if the timing’s right.
Why Guardiola Wants Him
Pep Guardiola has always been obsessed with midfielders who can dictate the rhythm of a game. Zaïre-Emery, with his blend of power, intelligence, and technical ability, looks tailor-made for City’s style. According to French outlet Jeunes Footeux, Guardiola is willing to play the long game, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Trouble In Paris?
Former PSG star Jérôme Rothen has even questioned whether Zaïre-Emery fits into Enrique’s system, claiming:
“The situation is terrible for Warren Zaïre-Emery. Since Luis Enrique’s arrival, he has regressed. He may not be compatible with his style. For his own good, it would perhaps be better to look elsewhere.”
That “elsewhere” might just be Manchester.
Enrique Still A Fan
Despite the criticism, Luis Enrique insists the teenager remains key to PSG’s future:
“He’s an incredible player, with top-level behavior and quality. He has been, is, and will be a very important player.”
But as Donnarumma proved, being valued by Enrique doesn’t guarantee a future in Paris.
