Barely A Month Away From Their First Qualifying Match For The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations (WAFCON), The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Has Yet To Hand A New Contract To Super Falcons Head Coach, Justine Madugu, Despite His Historic Achievements.
Madugu Was Appointed On An Interim Basis In September 2024 Following The Departure Of Randy Waldrum. Within Months, He Proved His Tactical Brilliance By Guiding Nigeria To Their Record 10th WAFCON Title In Morocco — Cementing The Falcons’ Status As Africa’s Dominant Force.
His Work Didn’t Go Unnoticed On The Global Stage Either, With A Landmark Nomination For The 2025 Ballon D’Or Women’s Team Coach Of The Year Award — A First For Any Nigerian Female National Team Manager.
Yet, Despite This Unprecedented Success, The NFF Has Remained Silent On Extending His Contract. With The Falcons Scheduled To Face The Benin Republic In A Two-Legged Tie This October To Begin Their 2026 WAFCON Qualification Campaign, The Situation Raises Questions About The Federation’s Commitment To Stability.
A Top Insider Within The NFF Confirmed The Uncertainty To UK-Based Sports Journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Stating:
“One Of My Top @Thenff Sources Confirms That Justine Madugu, The #WAFCON 2025 Cup-Winning Coach And @BallonDor Nominee, Is Yet To Be Given A New Contract To Manage The @NGSuper_Falcons, With Qualifiers For The 2026 WAFCON Starting In Less Than A Month’s Time. Why, @IbrahimMusaGus1? WHY?”
For Now, The Silence From The NFF Speaks Louder Than Words, Leaving Fans And Analysts Concerned That Administrative Indecision Could Undermine The Falcons’ Quest For Another Title.
