Julián Álvarez’s Agent Dismisses Liverpool Transfer Rumors
Julián Álvarez was briefly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, but his agent, Fernando Hidalgo, has shut down speculation by insisting no official offer was made by the Premier League champions.
The Argentine striker, who signed a six-year contract with Atlético Madrid upon his arrival in August 2024, had become a subject of transfer talk after an impressive debut season under Diego Simeone. His tally of 29 goals in 54 appearances outshone many of Spain’s brightest forwards, including Lamine Yamal and Vinícius Júnior, prompting interest from Liverpool and Arsenal.
However, Hidalgo was quick to cool the rumors.
“There were no official offers from Liverpool to sign Julián last season, and everything that has been said in this regard is false,” he told Erem News.
Premier League Interest That Never Materialized
Reports earlier suggested Liverpool had monitored Álvarez during his Manchester City days, even proposing a swap deal involving Luis Díaz. But negotiations never advanced, paving the way for Álvarez’s move to Atlético Madrid.
A year later, Liverpool strengthened their attack with Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitiké, and Alexander Isak, leaving little room for further speculation around Álvarez.
A Slow Start To The New Season
While his debut campaign in Spain was electric, Álvarez has endured a quieter start to 2025–26. He has managed just one goal in four La Liga matches, with Atlético collecting only five points so far.
Still, Hidalgo emphasized his client’s commitment:
“What is certain is that the player is fully committed to Atlético and is focused solely on doing what is best for the club.”
