Argentine FA Nears 80 Partners with New TCL Deal
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has added another partner to its fast expanding sponsorship portfolio, officially welcoming consumer electronics giant TCL as its newest technology partner at the Lionel Andrés Messi training complex.
At an unveiling hosted by former Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Goycochea at AFA headquarters in Buenos Aires, the event showcased the organisation’s polished commercial operations, with AFA President Claudio Tapia, Commercial and Marketing Director Leandro Petersen, and TCL Argentina representatives Nicolás Carreras and Gustavo Vázquez Gastaldi in attendance.
Tapia revealed the staggering number of partners in the AFA’s commercial empire saying: “Welcome to the House of the World Champions. We want to thank TCL, a leading global brand in technology. Having their trust is very important to us. We now count on nearly 80 sponsors supporting us, which demonstrates growth and shows that our project is delivering sporting results.”
AFA has commoditized every aspect of the national team experience, from training facilities to equipment categories, media partnerships to commemorative products, the organisation has created revenue streams that extend far beyond traditional jersey sponsorships.
The TCL partnership emphasises the value of Messi and winning the last World Cup in Qatar, as it features the ‘Alma de Campeón’ video card product celebrating that triumph. This commemorative item shows how the association leverages emotional fan engagement to create new commercial opportunities, blending technology with national pride.
For brands like TCL, aligning with Argentina’s World Cup winners has provided access to one of football’s most passionate global fanbases. Meanwhile, the AFA continues perfecting its model of comprehensive commercial exploitation.
