Roma are closing on a deal to sign Chelsea youngster Tyrique George on a permanent deal, with reports from Italy claiming the Giallorossi are now prioritising the 19-year-old over a move for Jadon Sancho.
According to what has been reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, Roma are set to bring George to the Italian capital for a fee of around €21-22 million and a significantly lower wage than what Manchester United outcast Sancho was interested in.
There was initially some confusion about whether a deal for George would be on a loan basis or permanent but Gazzetta are indicating that the move will be a proper, permanent transfer.
Another step in the right direction as Roma target Chelsea’s George
Roma continue to add a number of talented young players to their squad as the Giallorossi aim to give new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini a competitive squad for his first season in Rome.
George is considered to be one of Chelsea’s brightest young prospects and the 19-year-old played 26 times in all competitions last season, being a major part of the Blues’ rotated squad that eased through the UEFA Conference League.
