Christantus Uche is closing in on a transfer to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers…
Getafe coach Jose Bordalas has expressed his frustration over Christantus Uche’s pending move to Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Soccernet.ng.
After a summer filled with speculations about Uche’s future, the Nigerian is set to finally get his big transfer.
Wolves put in a €20 million bid for him on Sunday, and Getafe accepted due to their tight financial situation.
Recall that in an earlier piece, Soccernet.ng reported that Los Azulones barely had enough players to prosecute their league opener against Celta Vigo last week as they couldn’t register their players due to La Liga’s stringent financial laws.
However, with the €20 million coming from Uche’s sale, Getafe will be able to register their players and possibly sign one or two low-priced players.
This decision by the club has angered coach Jose Bordalas, as Uche has been heavily best player since last season. The Nigerian has been an important part of his setup, and his exit would affect them badly.
“I am against Uche leaving, he is a vital player for us, extremely important,” Bordalas said, per Alvaro Canibe.
“Every season we cannot start from scratch. If he leaves, we’ll have a huge, serious problem. We cannot be at the mercy of this.”
Christantus Uche absolutely loves Getafe, and that was the reason he even played against Sevilla on Monday.
However, the Wolves move promises to be a game-changer for him. He will now work with a bigger coach and more quality players.
Asides from that, it would also give him a huge financial upgrade. Uche currently earns €90,000 net per year at Getafe. But the Premier League transfer will surely give him a huge pay bump.
Uche’s transfer to Wolves should be confirmed in the coming hours.
