Mbappé Era Begins: French Star Takes Over Real Madrid’s Attack
The hierarchy at Real Madrid has shifted in recent months, and the change is clear for everyone to see.
Since Kylian Mbappe arrived, it was obvious that the competition to be the true face of the club would be between the French superstar and Vinicius Jr.
Now, just over a year later, the outcome of that battle is starting to reveal itself. Mbappe is moving ahead, while Vinicius finds himself trailing behind.
What is happening to Vinicius?
There is no denying that Vinicius is a remarkable talent. His flair and ability to break defences make him one of the most entertaining players in world football.
Yet, his style often carries an imperfection that undermines his brilliance. His runs and tricks sometimes end with poor finishing or rushed decisions in the final third.
In contrast, Mbappe plays with efficiency, power, and precision. His game is less about show and more about results, and that is what makes him the leader of this new Real Madrid era.
Mbappe’s adaptation to life at Madrid took time. His first season was marked by learning the system, understanding his teammates, and adjusting to Spanish football.
Now, entering his second year, the Frenchman looks unstoppable. Against Osasuna, he produced the kind of performance Madridistas have been waiting for.
A lot to improve
Vinicius, meanwhile, is working harder than ever. His attitude on the pitch shows commitment, and his willingness to press and chase is evident. But effort alone is not enough when compared to the clinical nature of Mbappe.
Even in his strongest attribute, dribbling, he was outshone. Against Osasuna, Mbappe attempted 12 dribbles and successfully completed 8. Vinicius, on the other hand, completed just one.
For years, Madrid looked to the Brazilian as the spark of the attack. However, now, Mbappe has stepped into that role with authority.
The truth is that Vinicius remains an outstanding player, but Mbappe is already proving to be the difference-maker at Real Madrid.
