Barcelona And Romeu Agree To Terminate Contract
The veteran midfielder is set to become a free agent
Barcelona are close to reaching an agreement with veteran midfielder Oriol Romeu for his contract termination, an operation that will facilitate their registration goals before their next La Liga match.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Romeu’s termination will be made official very soon, and the player is no longer training with his teammates as he gets closer to getting what is known in Spain as the “letter of freedom”.
Barça were hoping to find a partner in the market to get something in return for Romeu’s exit, and his former club Girona signaled some interest but never made a real offer, and with the end of the transfer window approaching the Catalans decided to sever ties with Oriol as quickly as possible.
Romeu’s termination is expected to free up the necessary salary cap space to register Gerard Martín, a move that will please Hansi Flick who has been pushing for the club to include the young defender in the squad in time for this weekend’s La Liga match against Levante.
