Delta State Inaugurates LOC For 2025 National Youth Games
The Delta State Sports Commission has officially inaugurated an eight-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) with all the members from one ethnic group (Urhobo) ahead of the 9th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG), scheduled to be hosted in Asaba, Delta State.
The 9th National Youth Games will officially begin on August 26, with contingents from various states expected to arrive in Asaba for the event.
The Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori, will lead the LOC, which is responsible for overseeing the planning and successful execution of the multi-sport event. The committee comprises key stakeholders and experienced sports administrators from across the state.
Prominent among the members is Chief Solomon Ogba, a former Commissioner for Sports in Delta State, who will serve as an Adviser to the committee. Also involved is former Super Eagles defender and current member of the State Sports Commission board, Mr. Sam Sodje.
Other members of the committee include Mr. Oghale Ofremu and Miss Henrietta Ehiabor, both serving on the current board of the Sports Commission. The immediate past Director General of the Commission, Mr. Festus Ohwojero, and Mr. Paul Omamomo-Ojo have also been appointed as members. The Acting Director General, Emuobo Igalase, will serve as Secretary of the LOC.
The committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring a smooth and successful Games, with the Commission reaffirming its commitment to delivering a world-class sporting experience.
