Super Eagles’ Franklin Tebo Set For Red Star Belgrade
One-time Super Eagles defender Franklin Tebo is now nearing a move to Red Star Belgrade, with only medical tests and the official announcement remaining to seal the transfer.
The move is primarily driven by Tebo’s eagerness to join Red Star Belgrade, rather than Sarpsborg’s willingness to let him go. Norwegian media outlet ‘Nettavisen‘ reported that
Tebo, 25, was absent from training on Thursday, and the club’s management was visibly unhappy with the situation.
Sarpsborg are set to receive 40 million Norwegian kroner (about 3.6 million euros) from Red Star Belgrade, which surpasses earlier reports by Serbian media.
It has been reported that Red Star have been interested in Tebo for a long time, and after Sarpsborg initially rejected their proposal, the Serbian club returned with an improved offer.
Sources indicate that all parties involved are confident the deal, which would see the player move from a contract lasting until the end of 2027, will be finalized in the coming days.
The transfer is expected to provide Tebo, who has a market value of €1.00m according to Transfermarkt, with an opportunity to compete at a higher level, potentially in the Champions League.
Despite Sarpsborg’s reluctance to sell the Nigerian defender, Tebo is determined to make the transfer happen quickly to secure more playing and training opportunities.
He has already boarded a flight to Belgrade, aiming to support Red Star Belgrade in their Champions League match against Pafos from Cyprus.
