Turkish Clubs Eye Kelechi Iheanacho As Sevilla Sets Price

There have been a lot of talks about Kelechi Iheanacho’s future this summer due to his inability to adapt to life at Sevilla…

Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas are considering a move for Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho this summer, according to Soccernet.ng.

Iheanacho’s future is uncertain at Sevilla, as he has failed to adjust to life there since joining last summer.

The Super Eagles star who turns 29 in October joined Los Nervionenses in a free transfer last summer, but things have not gone well for him so far.

He had to play second fiddle to a faltering Isaac Romero in the first half of last season. Then, due to his lack of minutes, he joined Championship club Middlesbrough on loan in the January transfer window. Still, he did not deliver, and that made the club decide against selling him.

Last season, he contributed just four goals and two assists in 26 appearances for Sevilla and Middlesbrough.

So coming into this summer, Iheanacho’s future has been in the balance, as it is believed that Sevilla want to sell him, but he has not attracted a lot of interest.

Earlier, Soccernet.ng reported that Mexican club Pumas UNAM were interested in acquiring the former Manchester City star. But they are yet to put in an official bid.

Now, according to Spanish outlet Orgullobiri, Sevilla have set a €3 million price-tag for Iheanacho. This is €1.5 million less than his value on Transfermarkt.

Kelechi Iheanacho Gets New Admirers From Turkey
As the transfer market continues to heat up in Europe, players are switching clubs, and some clubs are exploring the different options available to them.

Reports from Gola TV indicate that Besiktas are considering a move for the Super Eagles star.

Recall that the club just signed another Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi, and he could influence their interest in Iheanacho, since they were also teammates at Leicester.

Moreover, Besiktas are looking to add attacking reinforcements to aid their bid to upstage Galatasaray as Super Lig champions.

Iheanacho is a good financial option for them due to his value. But they will be skeptical about his ability to deliver, due to his struggles in the past year.

If they eventually decide to sign Iheanacho, Besiktas will swoop in quickly and get the deal wrapped up, as the Super Lig has already started, and they need all their players on the same page as soon as possible.
