Juventus Confirm Weah’s Sale to Marseille, Reveals Figures
A Juventus formal statement confirmed the official figures paid by Olympique Marseille to sign Timothy Weah, a minimum of €15.4m plus €4.1m add-ons.
The transfer was completed last night after the player flew in for a medical, where he was greeted by crowds of fans at the airport.
As Juve are floated on the stock exchange, they must release precise financial details of their purchases and sales, giving an unusual level of transparency in the football transfer market.
Weah sold to Marseille for minimum €6m profit
We are therefore able to confirm that Olympique Marseille are paying €1m for the one-season loan, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season for a further €14.4m if certain conditions are met.
That fee is payable over four instalments and can be bolstered by an additional €4.1m in performance-related bonuses.
Juventus therefore make a €6m profit on the sale of Weah, who had been purchased from LOSC for €11m in the summer of 2023.
The USMNT star made 78 competitive appearances in the Bianconeri jersey, scoring seven goals with seven assists.
