Newcastle’s Owners Could Fund Isak’s Move To Liverpool
PIF have always been clear that Alexander Isak is not leaving Newcastle United, with Yasir Al-Rumayyan a huge fan of the striker.
Isak’s Newcastle future will be decided by PIF, as they ponder what to do with a player who has made it clear he wants to leave the club.
Liverpool’s first Isak offer, worth £120million, was rejected.
It remains to be seen if a second offer will come in, with Newcastle United valuing the 25-year-old at £150million.
That kind of money would break the British transfer record, but it is a fee that Liverpool should be able to afford with the cash injection they are about to receive.
Who is Alexander Isak? Newcastle United’s sensational striker who has asked to leave the club
Alexander Isak celebrates scoring a penalty against Nottingham Forest with his Newcastle United teammates.
Liverpool sold Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich to raise funds, and now they are set to do the same with Darwin Nunez.
However, the Uruguayan forward’s move away from Anfield begs a lot more questions.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have agreed a deal to sell Nunez to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Romano adds that Nunez is now in talks with Al-Hilal, as he decides whether or not to leave Merseyside and head to the Middle East.
A move to Al-Hilal would raise a lot of eyebrows on Tyneside, as they are one of the clubs that are owned by PIF.
While PIF are an enormous entity with duelling priorities, it seems baffling that they would provide a cash injection for a club that is trying to buy a player from another team that they own.
By purchasing Nunez from Liverpool, they are effectively giving the Reds more money to pursue Isak.
All the while, Newcastle United’s quest to secure an Isak replacement has taken another hit.
It has been claimed that Benjamin Sesko is leaning towards Man United over Newcastle, with both sides submitting bids. Man United’s is worth £74million, while Newcastle’s is at £78million in total.
While the Newcastle offer is surely more appealing to RB Leipzig, it would appear that Sesko has made up his mind that he wants to go to Old Trafford.
Romano broke the news on Tuesday night that the 22-year-old now ‘only’ wants to join Manchester United, despite the approach from Newcastle.
That is terrible news for the Magpies, who are suddenly back to square one in their efforts to replace Isak.
It is also terrible news for Liverpool, as Newcastle are not going to sell Isak without having a replacement lined up. While Arne Slot’s side might have the financial capacity to give Newcastle what they want for Isak, they will not get the opportunity if an alternative to Sesko is not identified.
