Another Registration Hurdle for Barcelona: Gerard Martín Needs First-Team Spot
FC Barcelona seem to be taking player registrations quite seriously this summer. After all, ensuring that their players are registered for the official season is crucial. Without those registrations, a lot of unwanted consequences will emerge for the Catalan giants to deal with.
Fortunately, things seem to be going smoothly. The registrations of summer arrivals like Joan Garcia are expected to be completed without complications, and similar optimism applies to the registration of Wojciech Szczesny’s new contract as well.
Gerard Martin’s unique registration case for Barcelona
BARCELONA, SPAIN – MARCH 30: Gerard Martin of FC Barcelona takes his jacket off during the LaLiga match between FC Barcelona and Girona FC at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on March 30, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.
However, it now seems that Barcelona will have to register yet another player as a first-team member. According to Mundo Deportivo, Gerard Martin will need to be registered as a first-team player as well, adding yet another player for the club to worry about and tend to.
Fortunately, it should not be a major issue for the club, and they expect to register the 23-year-old defender as well. After all, he is seen as the direct alternative to Alejandro Balde heading into next season, and Hansi Flick wants him available for the very first game.
Moreover, the pending registration of Roony Bardghji is expected to be a lot less complicated. While it would be ideal to register him as a first team player, Barcelona have the option of registering him as a Barça Atletic player if they bump into any hurdles in terms of a first team registration.
