Super Falcons To Receive More If They Shine At World Cup, Says NFF President
The president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has served a strong hint that players of the Super Falcons will receive bigger rewards should they excel at the next FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Sports247 reports that, though the next Ladies’ Mundial is still far off in 2027 and the Falcons will have to first qualify through the preceding Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2026), Gusau is already looking ahead to the possibility of a glorious outing for Nigeria.
His enthusiasm is based on the Falcons’ recent conquest of this year’s WAFCON, which he believes is the ignition for better days ahead of the team and Nigeria as a whole.
Gusau said excitedly, “By the grace of God, this is the beginning of victories on the world stage. We are all happy. The players are also happy, and they want to see themselves coming for more presidential receptions.”
He then pledged that the NFF will do everything possible to support the team all the way to qualify and ensure that they excel at the 2027 FWWC in Brazil.
The NFF’s supremo added, “We, on our part, will do everything possible to support them to achieve their ambitions. Our next target is for us to see that we qualify for the World Cup, and that’s when I’m sure they will laugh more.”
Gusau concluded by pointing out that the hefty largesse dolled out to the Falcons by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, as reward for their 10th WAFCON title, is bound to be doubled if they excel on the global stage.
“Having got this type of attention now, if we go to the World Cup and get to a certain level, I can imagine how it’s going to be.
“So, for us, we are going to do our best to support them in order to achieve the next target,” Gusau reiterated.
