He’s staying
Frenkie de Jong confirmed he will renew his contract after Barcelona’s pre-season friendly win over FC Seoul on Thursday.
The Dutchman is into the final 12 months of his existing deal but Barca are keen to lock him down before the start of the new campaign.
It’s been reported he will be offered a deal until 2028, and he says he will put pen to paper shortly.
“I have not renewed my contract, otherwise you would have known,” he told reporters.
“But I am very happy at Barça and from what I know, Barça are happy with me so, in the end, I will renew.”
De Jong is not the only Barcelona player to confirm they are set to sign a renewal recently. Defender Jules Kounde has also announced he will be signing an extension when the team return to Barcelona after their pre-season tour of Asia.
