Romano Confirms PSG’s Next Goalkeeper: Lucas Chevalier
Paris Saint-Germain is set to sign a new goalkeeper amid Donnarumma’s contract extension uncertainty.
In the last few months, a lot of uncertainty was surrounding Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future at PSG as the negotiations between the Italian international and the European Champions were stalled as both parts failed to find an agreements on the salary.
Nonetheless, the former AC Milan shot-stopper who sees his current deal with PSG expire in 2026 and the club were working to find a solution to keep their relationship going after what was Donnarumma’s best season in the French capital as he played a crucial role as they lifted for the first time the Champions League.
However, as the negotiations over a new deal stopped, rumours sending Donnarumma elsewhere emerged, with Galatasaray reportedly submitting an official bid for the goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and some Saudi teams could consider the Italian as a priority if he were to become available.
The club and the player are reportedly set to meet this week to discuss the situation of the player as the French champions are intensifying their pursuit of Lucas Chevalier Lille’s goalkeeper.
Paris Saint-Germain close to reach deal with Lille for Lucas Chevalier
According to Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain are close to reaching full agreement for Lille’s Lucas Chevalier. The European Champions have already agreed with the French international goalkeeper while reaching the final stages of negotiations with Lille’s President Olivier Letang.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper will come to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma who appears to be on his way out of the club following his impressive 2024-2025 campaign, his best since joining the club in 2021.
Chevalier is a very talented goalkeeper who fits perfectly with Luis Enrique’s football philosophy as he his able to play out from the back, while also fitting with PSG’s new business model which is signing young and promising player to turn them into superstar.
According to RMC Sports’ Fabrice Hawkins, Les Dogues are expecting € 55 millions to part ways with their player with Paris confident to quickly seal the deal with an offer of € 40 millions plus bonuses.
Furthermore, the club could decide to oppose Gianluigi Donnarumma to Lucas Chevalier for this upcoming season as the possibility to see the 26-year-old stay at the club beyond this summer still exist and let Luis Enrique decide who should start in between the post for PSG.
