Romano: No Barca Move For Real Madrid Star Rodrygo
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has firmly shut down the rumours linking Rodrygo to Barcelona, stating there is “absolutely nothing” between the player and the Catalan club.
Speaking to DAZN, Romano clarified that no negotiations have taken place and insisted that the story is completely false.
“I don’t know where these Rodrygo rumours came from,” Romano said.
“But from everything I’ve been told, there’s nothing at all. Barcelona know it’s impossible to negotiate with either Rodrygo or Real Madrid. It won’t happen, that is certain.”
Earlier this month, Rodrygo’s name had surfaced in reports suggesting a possible shock move to Camp Nou. However, as Romano confirmed, Barcelona never made any attempt to pursue the Brazilian forward, nor did they ever consider it a realistic option.
He mentioned that the relationship between the two clubs makes such a deal unthinkable, and Rodrygo’s current role at Real Madrid further complicates any potential transfer.
Barcelona were focused on Rashford
Instead of chasing after impossible targets, Barcelona were focused on Marcus Rashford, a deal that was carefully planned and executed.
Rashford’s arrival was not only about strengthening the squad but also about making strategic moves within the club’s financial limits.
Unlike Rodrygo, who is valued at over €100 million, Rashford’s loan from Manchester United was a more practical and achievable operation.
Before completing the Rashford deal, Barcelona held detailed discussions with the player to ensure clarity over his role. He joins the club knowing he will serve as second choice behind the regular starter.
Rashford accepted this challenge after a careful conversation with Hansi Flick, making the transfer a well-thought-out solution, not just a marketing move.
In contrast, trying to bring Rodrygo to Camp Nou was never part of Barcelona’s plans. The club recognised from the start that such a move would be impossible both financially and politically.
