Bayern Munich could reportedly miss out on Xavi Simons with Chelsea looking to sign him from RB Leipzig.
The Blues have already bolstered their attacking ranks by signing Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens but Enzo Maresca is still looking to bring in more players.
Chelsea are looking to offload the likes of Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, and Christopher Nkunku, among others, which will free up space and wages for any potential new signing.
The London outfit are also looking to offload Renato Veiga, who is open to moving to Atletico Madrid this summer.
Bayern set to miss out on Xavi Simons?
Bayern are focusing on signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool, and they will only look for options elsewhere if they fail to secure his services.
Christian Falk informed CFBayern that Simons is the “Plan B” option for Bayern.
The German champions made an approach to sign Simons this summer, but as it stands, he remains as a standby option.
The 22-year-old is prepared to leave Leipzig, and the German club are also ready to sell him.
Max Eberl has a strong connection with Simons, and he would be the first option for Bayern if they fail to land their top targets.
However, at this moment, it appears that he will move to the Premier League, with Chelsea making concrete efforts to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
The versatile winger is widely regarded as one of the most exciting attackers in Europe, and Leipzig realistically could accept an offer in the region of £60m.
What’s the latest scenario with Xavi Simons?
According to Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea are in talks with Simon’s camp over a potential move.
The Blues are working to reach a verbal agreement with Leipzig. However, they do not want to pay the asking price set by the German club, and if the deal fails to materialise, other clubs will enter the race.
Fabrizio Romano adds that any potential move for Simons will only take place if Chelsea can remove some of the unwanted players.
